So this one may catch you off guard; best to be prepared in advance.  Most resorts in Las Vegas will charge you a fee to receive packages on your behalf.  Some may even charge a daily fee to hold them for you.  If you're going to be shipping your wedding and/or reception gear to Vegas, it's best to investigate all the options and how much they will cost because the resorts will frequently just tell you the address to ship to when you ask, and will fail to mention the charge which can be up to $20 per package or more.

Some ways around this:

  • If you've hired a coordinator in Vegas, see if you can ship to them; that's typically free.
  • If you're renting a restaurant either in a resort or standalone, see if you can ship to your contact there, provided they have a secure place to store your packages.
  • While they'll still charge, there are packing/shipping stores in Vegas that will typically receive and store your packages for less than the resorts would have charged you; i.e. The UPS Store or similar.
