The Stratosphere -

The hotel/resort/restaurant/gaming aspects of the Stratosphere will be covered elsewhere in this site; this article is just specific to its tourist qualities.

This is a casino at the far end of the strip whose notable feature is an 1100-foot tower which is the tallest freestanding observation tower in the United States; oh, forgot to mention it also has roller coasters and restaurants on top.  If you enjoy roller coasters, the experience here is like no other.  At the very top is Big Shot which is a ride that fires you and 15 others 150 feet up into the air and then lets you free fall back down several times; eat lunch after the ride.  If you've been to Universal Studios Orlando for the Dr. Doom ride, or anywhere with a similar launch and drop ride, it's like those, but entirely different and better at the same time due to the fact that you're already 950-feet up to start with,

Insanity lifts you up and dangles you over the side of the building.

Sky-Jump, the latest addition, is $99 and should be booked in advance if you want to do it; it is a controlled descent jump off the side of the tower, 850 feet to the ground!  This just opened in April 2010 and I haven't had a chance to go on it personally yet.
